P/T LIBRARY ASSISTANT I – Specialized technical and clerical support and public contact work, using personal computers and an online cataloging and circulation system. Work requires independent judgment and action within well-established policies and procedures. Work also requires a high-level of customer service.Position is under the direct supervision of the circulation manager. Work with patrons and maintain a high level of customer service even in difficult situations. Work with computerized circulation software and other library databases and websites. Maintains the operation of the circulation desk according to established procedures. Checks out books and other materials. Processes new library cards. Maintains records of fines and fees. Maintains orderly flow of returned materials; shelves books, replace other materials. Process library materials. Empties book drop. Assist in the search and recovery of library materials. Monitors and replenishes supplies from centralized stock for staff and patrons. Assist with programs and special projects. Assist with computers and computer sign-ups. Performs related work as required. Background checks, fingerprints, drug screening and physical will be conducted. Entry: $10.572/hr. F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER I (Parks) – Semi-skilled manual work involving custodial care, construction, maintenance, and repair of City buildings, streets, parks, beaches, playgrounds, athletic field and ground. Mows and rakes grass, weeds flower beds and collects and disposes of tree limbs, shrub trimming and other rubbish debris. Operates riding mowers, fly mowers, edger’s, power blowers, weed eaters, chain saws and other grounds related equipment. Loads and unloads heavy materials from trucks and moves or aids in moving heavy equipment. Assists in the installation, maintenance and repair of irrigation systems. Performs custodial duties such as sanitizing restroom facilities, sweeping, and mopping, as well as dusting and polishing of furniture and other fixtures. Knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies and equipment. Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the maintenance of park areas. Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. $11.101-$16.652 per hour. Open until filled. GEMS DRIVER – Operates a 10-12 passenger mini-bus, sedan style automobile, and/or van. Operates hydraulic wheelchair lift as needed while assisting elderly and disabled passengers on and off vehicle. Lifts and carries groceries and personal belongings for clients. Responsible for keeping vehicle clean (interior and exterior). Performs daily safety inspections of vehicle. Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with city and departmental policies, procedures and regulations. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinance and rules. Knowledge of the geography of the City and surrounding communities. Takes reservations/cancellations, registers new participants and collects fees. Operates two-way radio for contacting and dispatching mini-bus drivers. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds. Experience with the elderly or handicapped is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER II (Building Maintenance) – Semi-skilled and limited skilled work involving custodial care and maintenance of Community Services buildings and facilities. Performs limited skilled work in carpentry, painting and electrical work. Operates hand tools related to each specified trade area, as well as power saws, bench grinders, sanders, pressure cleaning equipment, etc. Loads and unloads heavy materials from trucks and moves or aids in moving heavy equipment. Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in facilities maintenance work. Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions. Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions. Self-motivated, able to work well without constant supervision. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in semi-skilled maintenance work, grounds keeping, construction and repair. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $12.239 per hour. Open until filled. F/T UTILITY SERVICE WORKER II –Semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance of City streets, utilities, facilities or grounds. Employees may be assigned to one or several functions within the classification depending on the needs of the City. Installs new water mains, fire hydrants and water meters. Repairs leaking or broken water mains and service lines. Performs leak detection on city water mains. Inspects and repairs sewage lift station equipment and machinery to insure that all is operating properly. Use and operates tools and equipment related to construction, maintenance and repair. Knowledge of the practices, methods, techniques and equipment used in the operation, maintenance and repair of a water distribution system and sanitary sewer system. Ability to be available for emergency calls and weekend assignments. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and vocational training. Three (3) years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines, pumps, shafts, bearing and other utility equipment. Must be able to lift more than 60 pounds. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $13.493 per hour. Open until filled. RECREATION LEADER – City of Gulfport. Immediate part-time position available for the School Year Child Care Program. Experience in education, physical education or child care preferred. Knowledge of licensing requirements, recreational activities including games, arts & crafts and sports. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or equivalency and ability to meet the personnel standards required by the Pinellas County License Board and the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas, Inc. The City of Gulfport has a new program to offer savings on prescription drugs to residents who are without health insurance, a traditional benefits plan, or have prescriptions that are not covered by insurance.

The Prescription Discount Card is made available to residents by the City of Gulfport in collaboration with the National League of Cities (NLC) and is made possible through The City of Gulfport membership in NLC.

The card is FREE to all Gulfport residents, regardless of age, income or existing health insurance. By using this card you may save an average of 20% off the regular retail price of prescription drugs at participating pharmacies.
