F/T ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE TECHNICIAN – UTILITIES – Responsible for generating all utility customer billing, preparing work orders, making changes to the customer database and accepting utility, marina and all cash receipt payments into the system. Knowledge of the principles and practices of cashiering. Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods and equipment. Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to receive cash and make changes quickly and accurately. Ability to exercise good judgement while making decisions in accordance with policies, regulations and procedures. Ability to operate a computer terminal. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and the general public. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Graduation from accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Four (4) years’ experience in customer service work including two (2) years in a supervisory or lead worker capacity. Prior experience in a utility operation in a municipal environment is desirable. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $14.168 per hour. Open until filled. F/T FLEET MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT – Semi-skilled work in servicing automotive equipment, routine clerical and support working the Public Services Garage. Obtains prices for vehicle parts and for work done by vendors; prepares necessary Purchase Requisitions, and/or Request for Payment based on vendor invoices against running balances on blanket purchase orders to order parts as directed. Monitors fuel inventory daily by observing meters and measuring depth in tanks. Prepares work orders as directed by supervisor, extending labor and material cost on completed work orders. Maintain parts room and fuel inventories. Organize material and labor data as input to monthly departmental reports; prepares time keeping records; maintains files, reports and other documents including fleet maintenance records on a PC computer system. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Experience in servicing automotive equipment. Experience in responsible clerical work. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida CDL class “B” driver’s license with air brake endorsement. F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER II (Building Maintenance) – Semi-skilled and limited skilled work involving custodial care and maintenance of Community Services buildings and facilities. Performs limited skilled work in carpentry, painting and electrical work. Operates hand tools related to each specified trade area, as well as power saws, bench grinders, sanders, pressure cleaning equipment, etc. Loads and unloads heavy materials from trucks and moves or aids in moving heavy equipment. Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in facilities maintenance work. Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions. Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions. Self-motivated, able to work well without constant supervision. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in semi-skilled maintenance work, grounds keeping, construction and repair. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $12.239 per hour. Open until filled. F/T UTILITY SERVICE WORKER II –Semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance of City streets, utilities, facilities or grounds. Employees may be assigned to one or several functions within the classification depending on the needs of the City. Installs new water mains, fire hydrants and water meters. Repairs leaking or broken water mains and service lines. Performs leak detection on city water mains. Inspects and repairs sewage lift station equipment and machinery to insure that all is operating properly. Use and operates tools and equipment related to construction, maintenance and repair. Knowledge of the practices, methods, techniques and equipment used in the operation, maintenance and repair of a water distribution system and sanitary sewer system. Ability to be available for emergency calls and weekend assignments. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and vocational training. Three (3) years’ experience in the maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines, pumps, shafts, bearing and other utility equipment. Must be able to lift more than 60 pounds. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $13.493 per hour. Open until filled. P/T STAFF ASSISTANT – Responsible for clerical work and assisting with accounting work in the preparation and maintenance of purchasing, payroll and reports for the Public Works Department. In addition, processes requisitions, requests for payments and purchase orders. Processes inquiries from vendors, employees and the public regarding payments of vendor invoices. Enters bi-weekly payroll and ensures documentation is in compliance with City policies and procedures. Answers telephone calls, greets the general public in a professional manner, and provides support in gathering date and processing all departmental mailings. General knowledge of modern business practices and procedures. Data entry skills required. Minimum of two years’ experience as a secretary/staff assistant. Must possess Microsoft Office software skills in particular Word and Excel. Municipal government experience a plus. Possession of valid driver license. Entry $12.239 per hour. RECREATION LEADER – City of Gulfport. Immediate part-time position available for the School Year Child Care Program. Experience in education, physical education or child care preferred. Knowledge of licensing requirements, recreational activities including games, arts & crafts and sports. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or equivalency and ability to meet the personnel standards required by the Pinellas County License Board and the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas, Inc.
