P/T STAFF ASSISTANT – Responsible for clerical work and assisting with accounting work in the preparation and maintenance of purchasing, payroll and reports for the Public Works Department. In addition, processes requisitions, requests for payments and purchase orders. Processes inquiries from vendors, employees and the public regarding payments of vendor invoices. Enters bi-weekly payroll and ensures documentation is in compliance with City policies and procedures. Answers telephone calls, greets the general public in a professional manner, and provides support in gathering date and processing all departmental mailings. F/T ACCOUNTING SUPERVISOR – Responsible supervisory work to oversee the operation of utility billing and customer service function within the Administrative Service Department. This position performs complex accounting and finance related analyses and provides advice on accounting matters based on a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures and practices. Work is performed under the supervision of the Accounting Manager. Proven customer service experience with the ability to resolve problems and use sound judgment on a regular basis. Graduation from accredited college with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance Management or Public Administration is preferred. Four (4) years of experience in governmental or non-profit accounting with two (2) years of supervisory experience. PART-TIME PUBLIC SAFETY VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR – Professional position responsible for the coordination of public safety volunteer programs. The work requires matching of volunteer interests and abilities with the needs of the public safety volunteer programs. The work is primarily of an independent nature, but the employee will be expected to operate as part of a team reporting to the police Professional Standards Commander. Knowledge of supervisory techniques and quality customer service. Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software, and the ability to learn new software applications. Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations which relate to volunteers in public safety programs such as crime watch and CERT. Associates Degree from an accredited college or university and at least two years of management/supervision experience with an emphasis on liaison with volunteer programs. Experience in the delivery of public safety field services (law enforcement officer, firefighter, EMT, paramedic) is preferred. F/T ACCOUNTING MANAGER- This position is highly responsible for all accounting related activities including; finance, budgeting, project accounting, payroll, accounts payable, grant accounting and fixed assets. This position also performs complex accounting and finance related analyses and provides advice on accounting matters based on a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures and practices. Thorough knowledge and experience in preparing a capital improvements program and municipal budgeting. Knowledge of laws and regulations governing municipal financial accounting including the Florida Uniform Accounting System, TRIM requirements, and meeting the requirements of the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial reporting as prescribed by the GFOA. Ability to maintain, analyze and interpret fiscal records. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, auditors, and other government accounting professionals. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely orally, and in writing. Skill in the use of computerized system applications and personal computer standard software applications including Word and Excel to assist in analyzing accounting data. Ability to maintain information on a “confidential” basis. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Four (4) years of progressively more responsible experience in accounting and fiscal operations including two (2) years of supervisory experience. Preference may be given to candidates with a CPA, CPFO, or CGFO certification. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must be able to handle sales through the use of credit cards. The ability to climb on and off vessels, lift 50lbs and walk an average of five (5) miles per day.
