City of Gulfport Urges Property Owners to Close Open Permits Ahead of Storm Season
The City of Gulfport, Florida asks all property owners to close out any open permits related to their properties. This is especially important for owners with non-compliant structures affected by the FEMA 50% Rule. Property owners are encouraged to contact the Building Department with any questions about open permits or the permit closure process.
With a new storm season approaching, properties with open permits or unresolved compliance issues may be more vulnerable to additional damage and could face further regulatory and financial impacts if another storm affects our area. Addressing these items now helps reduce risk, avoid delays in future recovery efforts, and ensures your property is in the best possible position moving forward.
The City encourages residents who experienced storm damage but did not apply for a permit, even if it is after the fact, to do so. This helps ensure your property is properly documented and can prevent complications or delays in future permitting, insurance, or recovery efforts.
In addition, residents can use the City’s public-facing portal to check for any unresolved permits on their property. Some permits may still appear open from the transition to BS&A and can be reviewed and corrected if needed.
