Prairie Garden

Thanks to the initiative of the Children’s Librarian, Cailey Klasson, and the City of Gulfport’s Horticulturist, Toffer Ross, the southeast corner (facing Beach Boulevard) of the Library now exhibits a Florida wildlife habitat of native Florida plants. The habitat is referred to as the Pocket Prairie because it is a micro example of Florida prairie. The National Wildlife Federation has recognized the Pocket Prairie as a certified Wildlife Habitat.

As the prairie matures, adult and children’s programs will be featured in the Garden.
