Reading Garden
Inspired, envisioned and developed by Phyllis Plotnick and assisted by the Circle of Friends, the Reading Garden exists to offer a tranquil place outdoors for reading and reflection. Enjoy the Cheshire Cat sculpture by Tom Pitzen and the sculptural wall by Dawn Klyczek. Topher Ross, landscape architect, designed the garden and established the plantings that include a large collection of orchids.
The garden has hosted concerts, speakers, World Book Nights, and numerous children’s programs. A fundraising project provides people with the opportunity to have a brick engraved to honor or memorialize a loved one or a loved book. The engraved bricks have not only added a personal element to the garden but have become a popular source of support for the COF and, in turn, the library.
