  • Senior Advisory Committee
    This committee was formally established to act as a liaison for Gulfport Seniors and to advise the City Council on matters pertaining to senior issues.   • GEMS – Gulfport Extended Mobility Service
    Door to door transportation service for Gulfport residents who are 55 years of age and over, and qualifying disabled residents. Rides to medical appointments, shopping, downtown St. Petersburg, and much more. For more information, call 727-893-2242.
  • Reassurance Calls
    Daily calls are made to participants to check on their well-being, for reassurance, and emergency assistance if needed. 727-893-2237.
  • Food Pantry
    Supplemental food assistance for qualifying Gulfport residents in need. Proof of age, income, and residency is required. 727-893-2237.
  • Snack Bar
    Low cost meals and snacks provided 5 days a week. Where friends meet.
  • Support Groups
    Visually Impaired, Hearing Loss, Caregivers, Diabetic. 727-893-5657.
  • SHINE – Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders
    This free program is offered by the Department of Elder Affairs in partnership with Area Agency on Aging. Trained volunteers can assist you with your Medicare, Medicaid, and health insurance questions. Must call 727-893-5657 for an appointment. http://www.floridashine.org/
  • Community Law Program
    A panel of very dedicated volunteer attorneys provide assistance to low-income residents over 60 years of age with wills, living wills, powers of attorneys, and health care surrogates. You must call 727- 582-7480 to schedule and qualify. http://www.lawprogram.org/
  • Congregate Dining & Meals on Wheels
    Neighborly Care Network provides complete hot meals approved by a licensed dietician that are suitable for those with high blood pressure and heart disease. Both, Congregate Dinning and Meals on Wheels, programs provide nourishment not only to the body, but also the soul, as they allow seniors to interact with others.   • Older Americans Act Counseling Program
    The Older Americans Act Counseling Program allows qualified Social Service Counselors from Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services (GCJFCS) to provide free mental health one-on-one counseling to residents 60 years of age or older.   • Amplified Phone Program
    Florida residents with a certified hearing loss are eligible to receive a free amplified phone from the non-profit Florida Telecommunications Relay, Inc. Cordless and corded phones for persons with mild to severe hearing loss are available at The Gulfport Senior Center. Call 727-399-9983 to qualify. http://www.ftri.org/
  • Donation Program
    The Senior Center accepts donations for 1st Friday Flea Market, Food Pantry, Soda Can Tabs, Campbell’s Labels for Education and Box Tops for Education, Eye Glasses, and Cell Phones. All donated items are forwarded to reputable organizations, persons in need, or to raise funding of the Senior Center Foundation. Receipt for donations is available upon request.
