F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER II (Sanitation)Semi-skilled work in collection of solid waste and refuse. Performs solid waste collection and disposal activities. Empties the contents of refuse containers into the sanitation collection vehicle; separate all recycled products; loads tired brush bundles. Assures yards are clear of rubbish and debris from containers. Operates vehicle hydraulic packer controls. Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of sanitation equipment. Performs laboring tasks on patch or shoulder crews. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in semi-skilled maintenance work, grounds keeping, construction and repair. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $13.111 per hour. Open until filled. F/T PERMIT TECHNICIANPerforms technical and clerical duties in receiving, reviewing and processing applications for the issuance of commercial and residential construction permits. Receives, reviews and verifies the content of commercial and residential construction permit applications for completeness, to include reviewing blueprints, site plans and technical drawings, to ensure minimum standards have been met in accordance with established procedures, codes and ordinances. Advises contractors, homeowners and the general public on the construction permit application process. Prepares construction permits and calculates permit fees to ensure the appropriate permits have been issued. Reviews flood elevation certificates for compliance with federal requirements and enters information into a database. Researches files and related databases to extract data needed to resolve problems concerning permit issuance. Complies, prepares and maintains construction permit files and records. Working knowledge of the minimum requirements of federal, state and local building and zoning codes and ordinances. Ability to review blueprints, site plans and technical drawings for minimum standards. Ability to interpret and explain codes, ordinances, statutes and laws governing the permitting process. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate; and two (2) years of experience involving the receiving, reviewing and processing of applications for the issuance of residential or commercial construction permits; supplemented by three (3) years of general clerical experience. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $15.177/hour. Open until filled. F/T ACCOUNTING SUPERVISORResponsible supervisory work to oversee the operation of utility billing and customer service function within the Administrative Service Department. This position performs complex accounting and finance related analyses and provides advice on accounting matters based on a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures and practices. Work is performed under the supervision of the Accounting Manager. Proven customer service experience with the ability to resolve problems and use sound judgment on a regular basis. Graduation from accredited college with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance Management or Public Administration is preferred. Four (4) years of experience in governmental or non-profit accounting with two (2) years of supervisory experience. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $51,337.245. Open until filled. F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER II (Parks) Performs semi-skilled work for jobs related to the maintenance of City grounds. Mows and rakes grass, plants, fertilizes and waters grass, shrubs and flowers. Weeds flower beds, collects and disposes of tree limbs, shrub trimmings and other rubbish and debris. Moves and aids in the moving of heavy equipment. Operates power saws, bench grinders, pressure cleaning equipment, tractors, trimmers, small trucks and automotive equipment. Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in maintenance work. Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions. Ability to perform the more routine tasks associated with the trade. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to perform heavy manual labor tasks for extended periods of time in unfavorable weather. Must be able to lift more than 40 pounds. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Two (2) years’ experience in semi-skilled maintenance work or grounds keeping. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $13.111 per hour. Open until filled. F/T EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (SANITATION) Performs heavy manual labor in the collection and disposal of all types of waste and refuse materials for the Sanitation division of the Public Works Department. Drives the sanitation truck and is responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment while using caution in order to avoid accidents and injuries. Collects waste and refuse, empties contents of the refuse cans into sanitation truck. Rakes and loads grass and brush collections. Cleans refuse and trash from trucks and equipment. Performs general housekeeping for all sanitation areas and equipment. Reports violations of refuse ordinances to the Sanitation Crew Leader. Ability to understand, communicate, and follow instructions. Ability to operate sanitation trucks and packer equipment. Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Three (3) years’ experience in the operation of solid waste vehicles and equipment. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License, with air brake endorsement. P/T LIBRARY ASSISTANT II Specialized technical and clerical support and public contact work, using personal computers and an online cataloging and circulation system. Work requires independent judgment and action within well-established policies and procedures. Work with patrons and maintain a high level of customer service even in difficult situations. Work with computerized circulation software and other library databases and websites. Checks out books and other material, processes new library cards, and maintains records of fines and fees. Maintains orderly flow of returned materials, shelves books, replaces materials and empties the book drop. Assists in the search and recovery of library materials. Performs related work as required. Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public. Ability to work in a team environment and adapt to changes in the library environment. Ability to learn and apply complex automated procedures. Knowledge of the services and operations of Libraries. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing. Ability to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Requires walking, standing, sitting, pushing, pulling, crawling, bending, stooping and reaching. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, supplemented by computer keyboarding courses, training or experience. Two (2) years of specific experience with library automation systems. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. P/T HORTICULTURALIST – Performs skilled and semi-skilled work related to horticulture functions in the City’s Parks and Facilities Department. Manages the application of chemicals and fertilizers. Designs and plans annual, perennial, and other displays’ evaluates and recommends improvements. Performs cosmetic pruning of trees using proper International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) pruning standards. Knowledge of practices and principles of horticulture and arboriculture. Ability to identify a wide variety of landscape plants by botanical and common name. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city departments, supervisors, other public agencies, and vendors. Knowledge of the use and capabilities of various maintenance equipment, materials, chemicals, and fertilizers. Knowledge of irrigation system installations and minor repairs. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by vocational course work in horticulture or arboriculture; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Hold a Limited Certification for Lawn and Ornamental (Chapter 482) for government employees or the ability to obtain with eighteen months of hire. Florida Driver’s License is required. $16.733/HR. A pre-employment drug screen, criminal history background investigation, physical, and driver’s license verification may be conducted. E.O.E.

P/T EVENT STAFF – Support work for various Casino, Theater, and City-wide Special Event activities, including opening facilities for evening and weekend activities, greeting and providing customer service for patrons, setting up tables and chairs, collecting fees, custodial care, and other tasks as assigned. Strong customer service skills required and prior experience in cashiering, event set-ups, technical sound/lighting, and bartending preferred. Must be available to work flexible hours (weekends, weekdays, & holidays). Requires frequent lifting of 25-30lbs and occasional lifting of 35-40lbs. Florida Driver’s License is required. $12.486/HR.
