F/T PLANNERProfessional and technical work involving current and long range planning, economic development, community redevelopment, grant writing and related grant project administration, recycling, utility and transportation matters, affordable housing assistance, census review, mapping, geographic information systems and floodplain management. Assists in the review and amendment of existing codes and regulations including the City Code of Ordinances, Zoning Code and the Comprehensive Plan. Drafts plans, creates maps, and updates official maps such as future land use plan, zoning and waterfront plan. Utilizes the City’s Geographical Information System to produce data, statistics and mapping. Assists in the preparation of the graphic or written data and/or projects for review before City Council, public interest groups and various boards and committees. Knowledge and principles and practices of public planning and community development. Ability to conduct studies, including research methodology and statistical techniques, and to analyze and formulate recommendations based upon the studies. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, to City officials, public interest groups, general public and other governmental agencies. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a four year degree in planning, public administration, or other related degree and two (2) years of professional experience working for a government agency with related tasks; or, graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in planning, public administration, or other related degree and approximately one (1) year of professional experience working for a government agency with related work tasks. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $47,445.49. Open until filled. P/T TROLLEY OPERATOROperates the Special Events Trolley. Operates hydraulic wheelchair lift as needed while assisting elderly and disabled passengers on and off vehicle. Responsible for keeping vehicle clean (interior and exterior). Performs daily safety inspections of vehicle. Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with city and departmental policies, procedures and regulations. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinance and rules. Knowledge of the trolley route and geography of the City. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds. Experience with the elderly or handicapped is preferred. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), State of Florida Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement, which is appropriate for the passenger capacity and gross weight of the vehicle being operated by that driver. Continuous possession of a valid driver’s license for the past seven (7) years. Drivers must pass all applicable medical exams. Entry $13.337/hour. Open until filled. F/T EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (SANITATION)Performs heavy manual labor in the collection and disposal of all types of waste and refuse materials for the Sanitation division of the Public Works Department. Drives the sanitation truck and is responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment while using caution in order to avoid accidents and injuries. Collects waste and refuse, empties contents of the refuse cans into sanitation truck. Rakes and loads grass and brush collections. Cleans refuse and trash from trucks and equipment. Performs general housekeeping for all sanitation areas and equipment. Reports violations of refuse ordinances to the Sanitation Crew Leader. Ability to understand, communicate, and follow instructions. Ability to operate sanitation trucks and packer equipment. Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Three (3) years’ experience in the operation of solid waste vehicles and equipment. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License, with air brake endorsement. Entry $15.439 per hour. Open until filled. Backgrounds, drug screening and physical will be conducted. P/T GEMS DRIVEROperates a 10-12 passenger mini-bus, sedan style automobile, and/or van. Operates hydraulic wheelchair lift as needed while assisting elderly and disabled passengers on and off vehicle. Lifts and carries groceries and personal belongings for clients. Responsible for keeping vehicle clean (interior and exterior). Performs daily safety inspections of vehicle. Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with city and departmental policies, procedures and regulations. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinance and rules. Knowledge of the geography of the City and surrounding communities. Takes reservations/cancellations, registers new participants and collects fees. Operates two-way radio for contacting and dispatching mini-bus drivers. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds. Experience with the elderly or handicapped is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Entry $13.336/hour. Open until filled. Backgrounds, drug screening and physical will be conducted. RECREATION LEADER City of Gulfport. Immediate part-time position available for the School Year Child Care Program. Experience in education, physical education or child care preferred. Knowledge of licensing requirements, recreational activities including games, arts & crafts and sports. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or equivalency and ability to meet the personnel standards required by the Pinellas County License Board and the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas, Inc. Entry $12.702/hr. Background checks, fingerprints, drug screening and physical will be conducted. Position open until filled.
