F/T EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (SANITATION) – Performs heavy manual labor in the collection and disposal of all types of waste and refuse materials for the Sanitation division of the Public Works Department. Drives the sanitation truck and is responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment while using caution in order to avoid accidents and injuries. Collects waste and refuse, empties contents of the refuse cans into sanitation truck. Rakes and loads grass and brush collections. Cleans refuse and trash from trucks and equipment. Performs general housekeeping for all sanitation areas and equipment. Reports violations of refuse ordinances to the Sanitation Crew Leader. Ability to understand, communicate, and follow instructions. Ability to operate sanitation trucks and packer equipment. Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Three (3) years’ experience in the operation of solid waste vehicles and equipment. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License, with air brake endorsement. F/T ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICE TECHNICIAN II – UTILITIES – Responsible for generating all utility customer billing, preparing work orders, making changes to the customer database and accepting utility and all cash receipt payments into the system. Knowledge of the principles and practices of cashiering. Knowledge of modern office procedures, methods and equipment. Receives and processes requests from the public for the initiation and discontinuation of City utility services. Responds to customer complaints and provides information to the public regarding department policies, regulations, and procedures. Processes and reviews delinquent statements, service charges and terminations, including preparing of notices and statements, mailing them and record keeping. Processes work orders for utility services to customers. Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to receive cash and make changes quickly and accurately. Ability to exercise good judgement while making decisions in accordance with policies, regulations and procedures. Ability to operate a computer terminal. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with City employees and the general public. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Graduation from accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Four (4) years’ experience in customer service work including two (2) years in a supervisory or lead worker capacity. Prior experience in a utility operation in a municipal environment is desirable. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $19.486 per hour. Open until filled. P/T NIGHT RECREATION LEADER – City of Gulfport. Immediate part-time position available for evening programs, classes, activities and weekend rentals. Experience in physical education and/or recreation preferred. Must be available to work flexible hours. Entry $14.541/hr. Level II background check, drug screening and physical will be conducted. P/T GEMS DRIVER – Operates a 10-12 passenger mini-bus, sedan style automobile, and/or van. Operates hydraulic wheelchair lift as needed while assisting elderly and disabled passengers on and off vehicle. Lifts and carries groceries and personal belongings for clients. Responsible for keeping vehicle clean (interior and exterior). Performs daily safety inspections of vehicle. Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with city and departmental policies, procedures and regulations. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinance and rules. Knowledge of the geography of the City and surrounding communities. Takes reservations/cancellations, registers new participants and collects fees. Operates two-way radio for contacting and dispatching mini-bus drivers. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds. Experience with the elderly or handicapped is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. P/T FUEL RAMP ATTENDANT – Responsible for assisting boaters using fuel and sewage pump out equipment. Receives appropriate fees for fuel. Maintains required records for use of sewage pump out equipment for maintenance and clerical work of the Municipal Marina. Ability to maintain maintenance work orders and clerical records. Ability to perform light maintenance and janitorial duties accurately and safely. Knowledge use of power tools, hand tools and measuring devices. Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing. Knowledge of boating, weather and familiarity with local waterways. Receives checks, stores and sells a variety of merchandise. Assists in maintaining inventory, Operates cash register. Must be able to handle sales through the use of credit cards. The ability to climb on and off vessels, lift 50lbs and walk an average of five (5) miles per day. Able to work in hot weather conditions. Able to work weekends and all holidays. Must be able to work flexible hours which are often dictated by weather. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable diploma. Possession of valid driver license. Entry $ 14.541 per hour. Open until filled. P/T EVENT STAFF – Support work for various Casino, Theater, and City-wide Special Event activities, including opening facilities for evening and weekend activities, greeting and providing customer service for patrons, setting up tables and chairs, collecting fees, custodial care, and other tasks as assigned. Strong customer service skills required and prior experience in cashiering, event set-ups, technical sound/lighting, and bartending preferred. Must be available to work flexible hours (weekends, weekdays, & holidays). Requires frequent lifting of 25-30lbs and occasional lifting of 35-40lbs. Florida Driver’s License is required. $15.268/HR. A pre-employment drug screen, criminal history background investigation, physical, and driver’s license verification may be conducted. E.O.E.

P/T RECREATION LEADER – City of Gulfport. Immediate part-time evening and weekend position available for the Teen Night Program. Education/experience preferred in education, physical education or related field. Knowledge of recreational activities including games, arts & crafts and sports. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and minimum of 18 years of age. Entry $14.541/hr. P/T SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD – Safety work in the regulation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in conjunction with the movement of children to and from school. Work is limited to those hours during which school is opening and closing and during lunch hour. Places school sentinel signs in the roadway at designated places near crossing points and removes them when no longer required. Assists children in crossing designated streets. Reports all traffic hazards to the police. Reports flagrant traffic violators and suspicious person loitering in the school area. Contacts school officials concerning children who do not cooperate in the accomplishing safety objectives. Performs related work as assigned. Ability to work regardless of weather conditions. Ability to accept, obey and carry out orders and special instructions. Ability to understand laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to traffic. Ability to deal courteously and firmly with the public. Possession of a valid Florida’s Driver’s License. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Background checks, fingerprints, drug screening and physicals will be conducted. Entry $13.848/hour. F/T BUILDING PLANS EXAMINER – CITY OF GULFPORT. Skilled technical work involving the review of construction plans and documents for compliance with the Florida Building Codes for residential, commercial and industrial properties. Minimum requirements: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to three (3) years’ experience in building construction review and or inspection. Standard Plans Examiner, Commercial and Residential Building certification (additional plans examiner certifications and inspector certifications are a plus and will be given consideration). Knowledge of licensing requirements, recreational activities including games, arts & crafts and sports. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or equivalency and ability to meet the personnel standards required by the Pinellas County License Board and the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas, Inc. Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with city and departmental policies, procedures and regulations. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinance and rules. Knowledge of the trolley route and geography of the City. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds. Experience with the elderly or handicapped is preferred. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), State of Florida Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement, which is appropriate for the passenger capacity and gross weight of the vehicle being operated by that driver. Continuous possession of a valid driver’s license for the past seven (7) years. Drivers must pass all applicable medical exams. Entry $15.268/hour. Open until filled.
