F/T CULTURAL FACILITIES EVENTS COORDINATOR – Coordination work for various casino, theater and city-wide special event activities, including opening facilities for evening and weekend activities, greeting and providing customer service for patrons, organizing events, setting up tables and chairs, collecting fees, and custodial care. Work is performed under the supervision of the Cultural Facilities Events Supervisor, but initiative and judgment are frequently exercised. Plans event details and aspects, including searing and coordination of clients and vendors. Establishes and maintains relationships with vendors and clients. Enforces casino and theater rules, policies, and regulations. Maintains accurate records pertaining to revenue, personnel, inventory, facility utilization, program facility and venue/event evaluation. Assigns staff as appropriate for events, including setting up/taking down of events. Sells refreshments, including alcoholic beverages. Must possess considerable knowledge of public recreation/cultural facility principals and practices, policies, procedures, trans and methods. Ability to manage entertainment facilities. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, public officials, community leaders and the general public. Ability to enforce rules and regulations with tact, fairness and impartiality. Ability to plan, direct, schedule, and appraise the work of subordinates. Sufficient physical strength and ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time. Ability to climb a ladder two (2) stories. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in parks and recreation, special events management, public relations, public policy, marketing or a related field and one (1) years of experience in event coordination and/or meeting planning. F/T SENIOR CENTER ASSISTANT – Provides support work for various Senior Center events, including opening and closing facility for evening and weekend activities, greeting and providing customer service for patrons, setting up tables and chairs, collecting fees, custodial care, and other tasks as assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Senior Center Supervisor. Requires the ability to resolve problems and use sound judgment on a regular basis. Must be self-motivated and able to work well without immediate supervision. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform required manual labor for extended periods of time. Knowledge of cleaning practices and willingness to perform light custodial work.  Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. F/T STAFF ASSISTANT II: Recreation Center – Advanced staff assistant work in functioning as an aide to a supervisor or in a specialized capacity. Duties include; providing information regarding services and operations of the department, communication skills in dealing with program registrations, set up and maintain office files, receive, process and maintain documentation of petty and daily cash, supervising children, and attending to injuries and accidents with knowledge of first aide methods. Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Pro Show Producer. Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited high school or equivalency, and three years of secretarial/clerical and typing experience. Ability to obtain the introductory child care training hours (24) within 90 days of employment as well as 21 hours of continuing training, 10 hours of annual in-service training and CPR& First Aid training. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $16.031 per hour. Open until filled. P/T RECREATION LEADER – City of Gulfport. Immediate part-time evening and weekend position available for the Teen Night Program. Education/experience preferred in education, physical education or related field. Knowledge of recreational activities including games, arts & crafts and sports. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and minimum of 18 years of age. Entry $14.541/hr. F/T EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (SANITATION) – Performs heavy manual labor in the collection and disposal of all types of waste and refuse materials for the Sanitation division of the Public Works Department. Drives the sanitation truck and is responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment while using caution in order to avoid accidents and injuries. Collects waste and refuse, empties contents of the refuse cans into sanitation truck. Rakes and loads grass and brush collections. Cleans refuse and trash from trucks and equipment. Performs general housekeeping for all sanitation areas and equipment. Reports violations of refuse ordinances to the Sanitation Crew Leader. Ability to understand, communicate, and follow instructions. Ability to operate sanitation trucks and packer equipment. Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Three (3) years’ experience in the operation of solid waste vehicles and equipment. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License, with air brake endorsement. P/T SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD – Safety work in the regulation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in conjunction with the movement of children to and from school. Work is limited to those hours during which school is opening and closing and during lunch hour. Places school sentinel signs in the roadway at designated places near crossing points and removes them when no longer required. Assists children in crossing designated streets. Reports all traffic hazards to the police. Reports flagrant traffic violators and suspicious person loitering in the school area. Contacts school officials concerning children who do not cooperate in the accomplishing safety objectives. Performs related work as assigned. Ability to work regardless of weather conditions. Ability to accept, obey and carry out orders and special instructions. Ability to understand laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to traffic. Ability to deal courteously and firmly with the public. Possession of a valid Florida’s Driver’s License. F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER II (Sanitation) – Semi-skilled work in collection of solid waste and refuse. Performs solid waste collection and disposal activities. Empties the contents of refuse containers into the sanitation collection vehicle; separate all recycled products; loads tired brush bundles. Assures yards are clear of rubbish and debris from containers. Operates vehicle hydraulic packer controls. Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of sanitation equipment. Performs laboring tasks on patch or shoulder crews. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in semi-skilled maintenance work, grounds keeping, construction and repair. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $15.124 per hour. Open until filled. F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER I (Parks) – Limited semi-skilled manual work involving custodial care, construction, maintenance and repair of city buildings, parks, beaches, playgrounds, athletic fields and grounds. Weeds flower beds and collects and disposes of tree limbs, shrub trimmings and other rubbish and debris. Operates small mowers, edger’s, power blowers, weed eaters, chain saws and other grounds related equipment. Performs custodial duties such as sanitizing restroom facilities, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing and buffing of floors, as well as, the dusting and polishing of furniture and other fixtures. Washes windows, walls and doors. Replaces towels, tissue and soap. Assists in the ordering of supplies. Collects and disposes of paper and trash. Reports broken furniture, damage to property, and any irregularities. Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends. Knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies and equipment. Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the maintenance of park areas. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. $14.541 per hour. Open until filled. F/T GEMS COORDINATOR – Responsible for coordinating and facilitating the provisions of quality care and transportation of the elderly population. Assists Senior Services Supervisor with the recruitment, hiring, training, and annual evaluations of GEMS staff. Supervises the day-to-day work of GEMS drivers: vehicle pre- and post-trip inspections, vehicle cleanliness, reporting of repair needs, etc. Assists GEMS dispatcher in taking reservations, scheduling vehicles, logistics, and other administrative duties as needed. Inspects vehicles, policies, and laws frequently to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Educates staff regarding such as it relates to transportation. Knowledge of general vehicle care and routine maintenance. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and rules. Knowledge of the geography of the City and surrounding communities. Knowledge of hazards involved in the work and safety precautions to be taken. Knowledge of data processing, office practices, procedures, equipment, and computer software. Ability to safely operate a 10-12 person passenger mini-bus with hydraulic equipment. Ability to work flexible hours and weekends, as needed. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Requires minimum of three (3) years supervisory/management/leadership experience. Requires two (2) years of public transportation experience. Ability to list and carry up to forty (40) pounds. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $15.124 per hour. Open until filled. P/T GEMS DRIVER – Operates a 10-12 passenger mini-bus, sedan style automobile, and/or van. Operates hydraulic wheelchair lift as needed while assisting elderly and disabled passengers on and off vehicle. Lifts and carries groceries and personal belongings for clients. Responsible for keeping vehicle clean (interior and exterior). Performs daily safety inspections of vehicle. Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with city and departmental policies, procedures and regulations. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinance and rules. Knowledge of the geography of the City and surrounding communities. Takes reservations/cancellations, registers new participants and collects fees. Operates two-way radio for contacting and dispatching mini-bus drivers. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds. Experience with the elderly or handicapped is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. F/T BUILDING PLANS EXAMINER – CITY OF GULFPORT. Skilled technical work involving the review of construction plans and documents for compliance with the Florida Building Codes for residential, commercial and industrial properties. Minimum requirements: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to three (3) years’ experience in building construction review and or inspection. Standard Plans Examiner, Commercial and Residential Building certification (additional plans examiner certifications and inspector certifications are a plus and will be given consideration). Knowledge of the trolley route and geography of the City. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds. Experience with the elderly or handicapped is preferred. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), State of Florida Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement, which is appropriate for the passenger capacity and gross weight of the vehicle being operated by that driver. Continuous possession of a valid driver’s license for the past seven (7) years. Drivers must pass all applicable medical exams. Entry $15.268/hour. Open until filled.
