F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER II (Stormwater) – Semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of the City’s stormwater system. Inspects, constructs and repairs City’s detention and retention ponds for treatment of storwater system; flushes and cleans stormwater system; installs, repairs and replaces culverts, curbs, drains, headwalls, catch basins, aprons, and interacts with contractors working on similar or joint projects. Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in maintenance work. Knowledge of occupational hazards and appropriate safety precautions of the work. Ability to perform routine tasks associated with the trade. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Ability to perform heavy manual labor tasks for extended periods of time in unfavorable weather conditions. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. The equivalent of three (3) years stormwater facilities construction maintenance, and operation and maintenance of excavation and construction equipment experience is desirable. F/T PLANNER– Professional and technical work involving current and long range planning, economic development, community redevelopment, grant writing and related grant project administration, recycling, utility and transportation matters, affordable housing assistance, census review, mapping, geographic information systems and floodplain management. Assists in the review and amendment of existing codes and regulations including the City Code of Ordinances, Zoning Code and the Comprehensive Plan. Drafts plans, creates maps, and updates official maps such as future land use plan, zoning and waterfront plan. Utilizes the City’s Geographical Information System to produce data, statistics and mapping. Assists in the preparation of the graphic or written data and/or projects for review before City Council, public interest groups and various boards and committees. Knowledge and principles and practices of public planning and community development. Ability to conduct studies, including research methodology and statistical techniques, and to analyze and formulate recommendations based upon the studies. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, to City officials, public interest groups, general public and other governmental agencies. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a four year degree in planning, public administration, or other related degree and two (2) years of professional experience working for a government agency with related tasks; or, graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in planning, public administration, or other related degree and approximately one (1) year of professional experience working for a government agency with related work tasks. P/T PUMPOUT OPERATOR– Operates, maintains and assists marina patrons utilizing pumpout equipment, including operating and maintaining the municipal marina pumpout vessel. Observes and reports to the Marina Director problem areas, such as waterway obstruction, unauthorized vessels, and equipment problems. Conducts routine dye testing inspections on visiting vessels. Assists in enforcing rules and regulations. Maintains required records for use of sewage pumpout equipment. Ensures proper care and safety to boating customers and their property. Monitors VHF marine radio to remain in constant contact with boaters and ship store. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Knowledge of marina dockage and anchorage facilities, boat ramps, and water depths. Knowledge of boating and familiarity with local waterfront is preferred. Must be able to list 25 pounds. Must possess a Boating Safety Certificate from the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, United States Power Squadrons, FWC Boating Certificate or must obtain certificate within three (3) months from the date of hire. P/T GEMS COORDINATOR– Responsible for coordinating and facilitating the provisions of quality care and transportation of the elderly population. Assists Senior Services Supervisor with the recruitment, hiring, training, and annual evaluations of GEMS staff. Supervises the day-to-day work of GEMS drivers: vehicle pre- and post-trip inspections, vehicle cleanliness, reporting of repair needs, etc. Assists GEMS dispatcher in taking reservations, scheduling vehicles, logistics, and other administrative duties as needed. Inspects vehicles, policies, and laws frequently to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Educates staff regarding such as it relates to transportation. Knowledge of general vehicle care and routine maintenance. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and rules. Knowledge of the geography of the City and surrounding communities. Knowledge of hazards involved in the work and safety precautions to be taken. Knowledge of data processing, office practices, procedures, equipment, and computer software. Ability to safely operate a 10-12 person passenger mini-bus with hydraulic equipment. Ability to work flexible hours and weekends, as needed. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Requires minimum of three (3) years supervisory/management/leadership experience. Requires two (2) years of public transportation experience. Ability to list and carry up to forty (40) pounds. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $12.667 per hour. Open until filled. P/T EVENT STAFF– Support work for various Casino, Theater, and City-wide Special Event activities, including opening facilities for evening and weekend activities, greeting and providing customer service for patrons, setting up tables and chairs, collecting fees, custodial care, and other tasks as assigned. Strong customer service skills required and prior experience in cashiering, event set-ups, technical sound/lighting, and bartending preferred. Must be available to work flexible hours (weekends, weekdays, & holidays). Requires frequent lifting of 25-30lbs and occasional lifting of 35-40lbs. Florida Driver’s License is required. $12.064/HR. RECREATION LEADER – City of Gulfport. Immediate part-time position available for the School Year Child Care Program. Experience in education, physical education or child care preferred. Knowledge of licensing requirements, recreational activities including games, arts & crafts and sports. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or equivalency and ability to meet the personnel standards required by the Pinellas County License Board and the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas, Inc.
