P/T SENIOR CENTER ASSISTANT – Provides support work for various Senior Center events, including opening and closing facility for evening and weekend activities, greeting and providing customer service for patrons, setting up tables and chairs, collecting fees, custodial care, and other tasks as assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Senior Center Supervisor. Requires the ability to resolve problems and use sound judgment on a regular basis. Must be self-motivated and able to work well without immediate supervision. Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays. Sufficient physical strength and agility to perform required manual labor for extended periods of time. Knowledge of cleaning practices and willingness to perform light custodial work. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Entry $12.332/hour Open until filled. Backgrounds, drug screening and physical will be conducted. F/T FLEET MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT – Semi-skilled work in servicing automotive equipment, routine clerical and support working the Public Services Garage. Obtains prices for vehicle parts and for work done by vendors; prepares necessary Purchase Requisitions, and/or Request for Payment based on vendor invoices against running balances on blanket purchase orders to order parts as directed. Monitors fuel inventory daily by observing meters and measuring depth in tanks. Prepares work orders as directed by supervisor, extending labor and material cost on completed work orders. Maintain parts room and fuel inventories. Organize material and labor data as input to monthly departmental reports; prepares time keeping records; maintains files, reports and other documents including fleet maintenance records on a PC computer system. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Experience in servicing automotive equipment. Experience in responsible clerical work. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida CDL class “B” driver’s license with air brake endorsement. F/T FLEET MANAGER – Under general direction, plans, organizes, and directs the activities of subordinate staff in the acquisition and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Supervises the City fleet maintenance staff, oversees and inspects contract work; assigns work orders; prioritize work and assignments; reviews, inspects, and evaluates work completed by staff; ensures user satisfaction; schedules preventative maintenance on a regular schedule; maintains and tracks equipment maintenance requirements; maintains equipment and supply inventory. Responsible for inventory control procedures to maintenance records in conjunction with the Finance Department. Conducts vehicle and equipment Life Cycle Management to determine appropriate replacement periods. Coordinates with outside vendors and contractors for repairs of vehicles and equipment. Coordinates acquisition of vehicles and equipment to replace or supplement the fleet. Works with departments in evaluating, selecting, and procuring vehicles and equipment. Knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of Fleet Management, procurement and maintenance. Knowledge of and ability to manage automated Fleet Management and other software programs. Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. Must be able to communicate effectively in oral and in writing. Experience in negotiating and administering contracts. Experience in data entry, files and records management, scheduling, as well as, prioritizing and organizing projects. A high school diploma or GED with the addition of the equivalent of five (5) years working experience as a heavy equipment/automotive repair and maintenance mechanic, or an Associate degree or higher in a related field; with one year in a lead or supervisory role; and completion of class work related to Fleet Management, and organization. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $25.595 per hour. Open until filled. FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC – City of Gulfport. Must be Florida State certified Firefighter/Paramedic. Must have current Healthcare Provider CPR, PHTLS, ACLS cards and Florida Driver’s License. CPAT or P.A.T certification required. Pinellas County certified paramedic and EVOC training preferred. Background investigation will be conducted including polygraph, psychological & physical examinations w/drug screening. Pay Range $49,348.470 – $79,188.928 annually. F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER II (Sanitation)- Semi-skilled work in collection of solid waste and refuse. Performs solid waste collection and disposal activities. Empties the contents of refuse containers into the sanitation collection vehicle; separate all recycled products; loads tired brush bundles. Assures yards are clear of rubbish and debris from containers. Operates vehicle hydraulic packer controls. Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of sanitation equipment. Performs laboring tasks on patch or shoulder crews. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in semi-skilled maintenance work, grounds keeping, construction and repair. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $13.596 per hour. Open until filled. P/T GEMS DRIVEROperates a 10-12 passenger mini-bus, sedan style automobile, and/or van. Operates hydraulic wheelchair lift as needed while assisting elderly and disabled passengers on and off vehicle. Lifts and carries groceries and personal belongings for clients. Responsible for keeping vehicle clean (interior and exterior). Performs daily safety inspections of vehicle. Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with city and departmental policies, procedures and regulations. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinance and rules. Knowledge of the geography of the City and surrounding communities. Takes reservations/cancellations, registers new participants and collects fees. Operates two-way radio for contacting and dispatching mini-bus drivers. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds. Experience with the elderly or handicapped is preferred. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. P/T EVENT STAFFSupport work for various Casino, Theater, and City-wide Special Event activities, including opening facilities for evening and weekend activities, greeting and providing customer service for patrons, setting up tables and chairs, collecting fees, custodial care, and other tasks as assigned. Strong customer service skills required and prior experience in cashiering, event set-ups, technical sound/lighting, and bartending preferred. Must be available to work flexible hours (weekends, weekdays, & holidays). Requires frequent lifting of 25-30lbs and occasional lifting of 35-40lbs. Florida Driver’s License is required. $12.948/HR. P/T MARINA ASSISTANTResponsible for maintenance and clerical work of the Municipal Marina. Ability to maintain maintenance work orders and clerical records. Ability to perform maintenance duties accurately and safely. Knowledge use of power tools, hand tools and measuring devices. Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing. Knowledge of boating, weather and familiarity with local waterways. Receives checks, stores and sells a variety of merchandise. Assists in maintaining inventory, Operates cash register. Must be able to handle sales through the use of credit cards. The ability to climb on and off vessels, lift 50lbs and walk an average of five (5) miles per day. Able to work in hot weather conditions. Able to work weekends and all holidays. Must be able to work flexible hours which are often dictated by weather. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable diploma. Possession of valid driver license. Entry $12.332 per hour. Open until filled. F/T HORTICULTURALIST – Performs skilled and semi-skilled work related to horticulture functions in the City’s Parks and Facilities Department. Manages the application of chemicals and fertilizers. Designs and plans annual, perennial, and other displays’ evaluates and recommends improvements. Performs cosmetic pruning of trees using proper International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) pruning standards. Knowledge of practices and principles of horticulture and arboriculture. Ability to identify a wide variety of landscape plants by botanical and common name. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city departments, supervisors, other public agencies, and vendors. Knowledge of the use and capabilities of various maintenance equipment, materials, chemicals, and fertilizers. Knowledge of irrigation system installations and minor repairs. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by vocational course work in horticulture or arboriculture; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Hold a Limited Certification for Lawn and Ornamental (Chapter 482) for government employees or the ability to obtain with eighteen months of hire. Florida Driver’s License is required. $16.733/HR. The card is FREE to all Gulfport residents, regardless of age, income or existing health insurance. By using this card you may save an average of 20% off the regular retail price of prescription drugs at participating pharmacies.
