F/T SENIOR ACCOUNTANT-Responsible for general ledger accounting, including journal entry preparation, reconciliation and analysis of various balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure compliance, integrity of balances, accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. Assists in development and implementation of related procedures and internal accounting controls, provides advice and assistance to other departments on the origin, nature or proper handling of accounting transactions; prepares financial or informational spreadsheets for management’s review and internal/external review. Research, review, and resolve unusual variances with minimal supervisor. Identify and tag capital asset purchased and enter information into the fixed asset program. Group/track associated projects and reconcile fixed asset database to general ledger. Facilitate the disposal of capital assets and/or inventory items through sale, transfer, or destruction in compliance with policies and procedures. Facilitate the finance department oversight responsibility regarding inventory transactions to identify errors and suggest process improvements to ensure accurate inventory value is maintained and accurately reported. Reconcile inventory accounts to the general ledger. Collect, coordinate and maintain vendor application and database files. Prepare request for payments or purchase orders in compliance with the Purchasing Manual. Perform purchasing functions for all City office supplies and allocates monthly office supply and copy machine charges to each department. Work may involve analyzing financial statements and records, coordinating budget preparation and administration, reviewing administrative and accounting procedures, preparing comprehensive reports on special studies, and assisting in the design and implementation of new financial accounting systems. Knowledge of office procedures, practices and equipment. Knowledge of bookkeeping and governmental accounting principles and procedures. Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other computer skills required. Ability to prepare financial reports and statements in accordance with predetermined requirements. Graduation form an accredited four-year college of university with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Four (4) years of experience in accounting and fiscal operations. Must possess advanced Microsoft Excel Skills. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida’s Driver’s License. F/T STAFF ASSISTANT (Senior Center)-Performs routine clerical and secretarial support to the department staff. In addition, answers the telephone and greets the general public as well as providing support in gathering data and processing departmental mailings. Handles typing/word processing, copying, filing and answering the telephones for department. Interacts with the general public and may assist with sending of applicable notices and mailings and assists in maintenance of departmental filing system as well as records retention and destruction program. General knowledge of modern business practices and procedures. Organizational skills and ability to answer telephones, take messages and greet visitors in a professional manner. Knowledge of word processing is a plus. Ability to deal courteously and firmly with the public. Possession of a valid Florida’s Driver’s License. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Background checks, fingerprints, drug screening and physicals will be conducted. Entry $17.394/hour. FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC-City of Gulfport. Must be Florida State certified Firefighter/Paramedic. Must have current Healthcare Provider CPR, PHTLS, ACLS cards and Florida Driver’s License. CPAT or P.A.T certification required. Pinellas County certified paramedic and EVOC training preferred. Background investigation will be conducted including polygraph, psychological & physical examinations w/drug screening. Pay Range $52,883.692-$84,862.801 annually. Additional benefits include paid holidays, paid vacation time, certificate pay, and pension. Open until position is filled. E.E.O.

P/T FUEL RAMP ATTENDANT-Responsible for assisting boaters using fuel and sewage pump out equipment. Receives appropriate fees for fuel. Maintains required records for use of sewage pump out equipment for maintenance and clerical work of the Municipal Marina. Ability to maintain maintenance work orders and clerical records. Ability to perform light maintenance and janitorial duties accurately and safely. Knowledge use of power tools, hand tools and measuring devices. Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing. Knowledge of boating, weather and familiarity with local waterways. Receives checks, stores and sells a variety of merchandise. Assists in maintaining inventory, Operates cash register. Must be able to handle sales through the use of credit cards. The ability to climb on and off vessels, lift 50lbs and walk an average of five (5) miles per day. Able to work in hot weather conditions. Able to work weekends and all holidays. Must be able to work flexible hours which are often dictated by weather. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable diploma. Possession of valid driver license. Entry $ 15.777 per hour. Open until filled. P/T EVENT STAFF – Support work for various Casino, Theater, and City-wide Special Event activities, including opening facilities for evening and weekend activities, greeting and providing customer service for patrons, setting up tables and chairs, collecting fees, custodial care, and other tasks as assigned. Strong customer service skills required and prior experience in cashiering, event set-ups, technical sound/lighting, and bartending preferred. Must be available to work flexible hours (weekends, weekdays, & holidays). Requires frequent lifting of 25-30lbs and occasional lifting of 35-40lbs. Florida Driver’s License is required. $16.566/HR. A pre-employment drug screen, criminal history background investigation, physical, and driver’s license verification may be conducted. E.O.E.

P/T SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD – Safety work in the regulation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in conjunction with the movement of children to and from school. Work is limited to those hours during which school is opening and closing and during lunch hour. Places school sentinel signs in the roadway at designated places near crossing points and removes them when no longer required. Assists children in crossing designated streets. Reports all traffic hazards to the police. Reports flagrant traffic violators and suspicious person loitering in the school area. Contacts school officials concerning children who do not cooperate in the accomplishing safety objectives. Performs related work as assigned. Ability to work regardless of weather conditions. Ability to accept, obey and carry out orders and special instructions. Ability to understand laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to traffic. Ability to deal courteously and firmly with the public. Possession of a valid Florida’s Driver’s License. F/T BUILDING INSPECTOR – Technical work in both office and field to determine if performance in the field is in compliance with prevailing regulatory codes related to electrical, structural, plumbing, mechanical, and landscape design/installation during all phases of construction or rehabilitation of residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Specific instruction and areas of responsibility are set forth when initial duty assignments are made by the Building Official which requires limited supervision. Work is reviewed through reports, conferences, and obtained results. Responsible for the quality control of construction projects for adherence to approved plans and specifications. Meets with contractors to discuss matters related to the buildings. Informs individuals about specific code requirements and answers code specific questions. Provides information to the public regarding construction projects. Responsible for Florida Building Code violations. Compiles, prepares, and maintains construction permit files and records. Must have thorough knowledge of construction terminology, techniques, and procedures; including the ability to read and understand complex construction documents. Working knowledge of the minimum requirements of federal, state and local building and zoning codes and ordinances. Ability to interpret and explain codes, ordinances, statues and laws governing the permitting process. Ability to use a computer and related software. High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and three (3) years’ experience in the primary building construction trades, construction inspection, architecture inspection, or civil engineering; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Standard Inspector and One- and Two-Family certifications. Must be able to obtain “Provisional” status from the State of Florida within 60 days of hire and “Standard Certification” within 1 year of hire. Entry $26.984/hour. Open until filled. Education/experience preferred in education, physical education or related field. Knowledge of recreational activities including games, arts & crafts and sports. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and minimum of 18 years of age. Entry $15.777/hr. F/T BUILDING PLANS EXAMINER – CITY OF GULFPORT. Skilled technical work involving the review of construction plans and documents for compliance with the Florida Building Codes for residential, commercial and industrial properties. Minimum requirements: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to three (3) years’ experience in building construction review and or inspection. Standard Plans Examiner, Commercial and Residential Building certification (additional plans examiner certifications and inspector certifications are a plus and will be given consideration).
