F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER II (Sanitation)Semi-skilled work in collection of solid waste and refuse. Performs solid waste collection and disposal activities. Empties the contents of refuse containers into the sanitation collection vehicle; separate all recycled products; loads tired brush bundles. Assures yards are clear of rubbish and debris from containers. Operates vehicle hydraulic packer controls. Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of sanitation equipment. Performs laboring tasks on patch or shoulder crews. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in semi-skilled maintenance work, grounds keeping, construction and repair. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $13.111 per hour. Open until filled. F/T FLEET MAINTENANCE ASSISTANTSemi-skilled work in servicing automotive equipment, routine clerical and support working the Public Services Garage. Obtains prices for vehicle parts and for work done by vendors; prepares necessary Purchase Requisitions, and/or Request for Payment based on vendor invoices against running balances on blanket purchase orders to order parts as directed. Monitors fuel inventory daily by observing meters and measuring depth in tanks. Prepares work orders as directed by supervisor, extending labor and material cost on completed work orders. Maintain parts room and fuel inventories. Organize material and labor data as input to monthly departmental reports; prepares time keeping records; maintains files, reports and other documents including fleet maintenance records on a PC computer system. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Experience in servicing automotive equipment. Experience in responsible clerical work. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida CDL class “B” driver’s license with air brake endorsement. P/T MARINA ASSISTANTResponsible for maintenance and clerical work of the Municipal Marina. Ability to maintain maintenance work orders and clerical records. Ability to perform maintenance duties accurately and safely. Knowledge use of power tools, hand tools and measuring devices. Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing. Knowledge of boating, weather and familiarity with local waterways. Receives checks, stores and sells a variety of merchandise. Assists in maintaining inventory, Operates cash register. Must be able to handle sales through the use of credit cards. The ability to climb on and off vessels, lift 50lbs and walk an average of five (5) miles per day. Able to work in hot weather conditions. Able to work weekends and all holidays. Must be able to work flexible hours which are often dictated by weather. RECREATION LEADERCity of Gulfport. Immediate part-time position available for the School Year Child Care Program. Experience in education, physical education or child care preferred. Knowledge of licensing requirements, recreational activities including games, arts & crafts and sports. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or equivalency and ability to meet the personnel standards required by the Pinellas County License Board and the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas, Inc. F/T PERMIT TECHNICIANPerforms technical and clerical duties in receiving, reviewing and processing applications for the issuance of commercial and residential construction permits. Receives, reviews and verifies the content of commercial and residential construction permit applications for completeness, to include reviewing blueprints, site plans and technical drawings, to ensure minimum standards have been met in accordance with established procedures, codes and ordinances. Advises contractors, homeowners and the general public on the construction permit application process. Prepares construction permits and calculates permit fees to ensure the appropriate permits have been issued. Reviews flood elevation certificates for compliance with federal requirements and enters information into a database. Researches files and related databases to extract data needed to resolve problems concerning permit issuance. Complies, prepares and maintains construction permit files and records. Working knowledge of the minimum requirements of federal, state and local building and zoning codes and ordinances. Ability to review blueprints, site plans and technical drawings for minimum standards. Ability to interpret and explain codes, ordinances, statutes and laws governing the permitting process. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate; and two (2) years of experience involving the receiving, reviewing and processing of applications for the issuance of residential or commercial construction permits; supplemented by three (3) years of general clerical experience. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $15.177/hour. Open until filled. F/T ACCOUNTING SUPERVISORResponsible supervisory work to oversee the operation of utility billing and customer service function within the Administrative Service Department. This position performs complex accounting and finance related analyses and provides advice on accounting matters based on a thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures and practices. Work is performed under the supervision of the Accounting Manager. Proven customer service experience with the ability to resolve problems and use sound judgment on a regular basis. Graduation from accredited college with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance Management or Public Administration is preferred. Four (4) years of experience in governmental or non-profit accounting with two (2) years of supervisory experience. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $51,337.245. Open until filled. F/T EQUIPMENT OPERATOR (SANITATION) Performs heavy manual labor in the collection and disposal of all types of waste and refuse materials for the Sanitation division of the Public Works Department. Drives the sanitation truck and is responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the equipment while using caution in order to avoid accidents and injuries. Collects waste and refuse, empties contents of the refuse cans into sanitation truck. Rakes and loads grass and brush collections. Cleans refuse and trash from trucks and equipment. Performs general housekeeping for all sanitation areas and equipment. Reports violations of refuse ordinances to the Sanitation Crew Leader. Ability to understand, communicate, and follow instructions. Ability to operate sanitation trucks and packer equipment. Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Three (3) years’ experience in the operation of solid waste vehicles and equipment. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License, with air brake endorsement. P/T HORTICULTURALIST – Performs skilled and semi-skilled work related to horticulture functions in the City’s Parks and Facilities Department. Manages the application of chemicals and fertilizers. Designs and plans annual, perennial, and other displays’ evaluates and recommends improvements. Performs cosmetic pruning of trees using proper International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) pruning standards. Knowledge of practices and principles of horticulture and arboriculture. Ability to identify a wide variety of landscape plants by botanical and common name. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other city departments, supervisors, other public agencies, and vendors. Knowledge of the use and capabilities of various maintenance equipment, materials, chemicals, and fertilizers. Knowledge of irrigation system installations and minor repairs. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Graduation from high school or GED, supplemented by vocational course work in horticulture or arboriculture; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Hold a Limited Certification for Lawn and Ornamental (Chapter 482) for government employees or the ability to obtain with eighteen months of hire. Florida Driver’s License is required. $16.733/HR. A pre-employment drug screen, criminal history background investigation, physical, and driver’s license verification may be conducted. E.O.E.
