P/T EVENT STAFF – Support work for various Casino, Theater, and City-wide Special Event activities, including opening facilities for evening and weekend activities, greeting and providing customer service for patrons, setting up tables and chairs, collecting fees, custodial care, and other tasks as assigned. Strong customer service skills required and prior experience in cashiering, event set-ups, technical sound/lighting, and bartending preferred. Must be available to work flexible hours (weekends, weekdays, & holidays). Requires frequent lifting of 25-30lbs and occasional lifting of 35-40lbs. Florida Driver’s License is required. $15.268/HR. A pre-employment drug screen, criminal history background investigation, physical, and driver’s license verification may be conducted. E.O.E.

F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER I (Parks) – Limited semi-skilled manual work involving custodial care, construction, maintenance and repair of city buildings, parks, beaches, playgrounds, athletic fields and grounds. Weeds flower beds and collects and disposes of tree limbs, shrub trimmings and other rubbish and debris. Operates small mowers, edger’s, power blowers, weed eaters, chain saws and other grounds related equipment. Performs custodial duties such as sanitizing restroom facilities, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, waxing and buffing of floors, as well as, the dusting and polishing of furniture and other fixtures. Washes windows, walls and doors. Replaces towels, tissue and soap. Assists in the ordering of supplies. Collects and disposes of paper and trash. Reports broken furniture, damage to property, and any irregularities. Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends. Knowledge of cleaning practices, supplies and equipment. Knowledge of tools and equipment used in the maintenance of park areas. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. $14.541 per hour. Open until filled. P/T LIBRARY ASSISTANT I – Specialized technical and clerical support and public contract work, suing personal computers and an online cataloging and circulation system. Work requires independent judgment and action within well-established policies and procedures. Work also requires a high-level of customer service. Position is under the direct supervision of the circulation manager. Work with patrons and maintain high level of customer service even in difficult situations. Work with computerized circulation software and other library databases and websites. Maintains the operations of the circulation desk according to established procedures. Checks out books and other materials. Processes new library cards. Maintains records of fines and fees. Maintains orderly flow of returned materials; shelves books, replace other materials. Process library materials. Empties book drop. Assist in the search and recovery of library materials. Monitors and replenishes supplies from centralized stock for staff and patrons. Assist with programs and special projects. Assist with computers and computer sign-ups. Performs related work as required. F/T STAFF ASSISTANT – Performs routine clerical and secretarial support to the department staff. In addition, answers the telephone and greets the general public as well as providing support in gathering data and processing departmental mailings. Handles typing/word processing, copying, filing and answering the telephones for department. Interacts with the general public and may assist with sending of applicable notices and mailings and assists in maintenance of departmental filing system as well as records retention and destruction program. General knowledge of modern business practices and procedures. Organizational skills and ability to answer telephones, take messages and greet visitors in a professional manner. Knowledge of word processing is a plus. Ability to deal courteously and firmly with the public. Possession of a valid Florida’s Driver’s License. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Background checks, fingerprints, drug screening and physicals will be conducted. Entry $16.031/hour. F/T APPLICATION SPECIALIST – Responsible for coordinating software/application configuration, training, testing, and deployment of the City software with a focus on accuracy and accountability for the Finance Department. Ensure all business transactions and activities performed within the City’s financial software applications, are properly routed to the appropriate General Ledger Account(s). Be the key point of contact during software implementation projects. Utilize Project Management skills to keep all stakeholders apprised of status updates. Stay up-to-date on the latest product features and functionality as well as conducts software training, retraining, and coaching sessions to users at varying skill levels. Proposes and implements ideas to simplify daily activities by leveraging new or existing key technologies to improve business processes. Works as a liaison between the Finance Department, City Information Technology Department, and finance software vendors. Ability to write, organize, and manage instructional materials in various formants. Ability to learn new software programs quickly and in depth. Proficiency in Microsoft Software, including advanced Excel skills. Must have a strong working knowledge of database management. Ability to research and understand technical documentation, and an understanding of how to apply various technical resources. Must possess exceptional customer service skills, trouble shooting skills, ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work under minimum supervision. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Preferred experience with CCH Prosystem fx Engagement, QuickBooks, and Financial Software products. F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER II (Sanitation) – Semi-skilled work in collection of solid waste and refuse. Performs solid waste collection and disposal activities. Empties the contents of refuse containers into the sanitation collection vehicle; separate all recycled products; loads tired brush bundles. Assures yards are clear of rubbish and debris from containers. Operates vehicle hydraulic packer controls. Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of sanitation equipment. Performs laboring tasks on patch or shoulder crews. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in semi-skilled maintenance work, grounds keeping, construction and repair. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $16.031 per hour. Open until filled. F/T BUILDING PLANS EXAMINER – CITY OF GULFPORT. Skilled technical work involving the review of construction plans and documents for compliance with the Florida Building Codes for residential, commercial and industrial properties. Minimum requirements: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to three (3) years’ experience in building construction review and or inspection. Standard Plans Examiner, Commercial and Residential Building certification (additional plans examiner certifications and inspector certifications are a plus and will be given consideration). RECREATION LEADER – City of Gulfport. Immediate part-time position available for the School Year Child Care Program. Experience in education, physical education or child care preferred. Knowledge of licensing requirements, recreational activities including games, arts & crafts and sports. Minimum qualifications include high school diploma or equivalency and ability to meet the personnel standards required by the Pinellas County License Board and the Early Learning Coalition of Pinellas, Inc. P/T TROLLEY OPERATOROperates the Special Events Trolley. Operates hydraulic wheelchair lift as needed while assisting elderly and disabled passengers on and off vehicle. Responsible for keeping vehicle clean (interior and exterior). Performs daily safety inspections of vehicle. Ability to make routine decisions in accordance with city and departmental policies, procedures and regulations. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinance and rules. Knowledge of the trolley route and geography of the City. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Ability to lift and carry up to twenty (20) pounds. Experience with the elderly or handicapped is preferred. Possession of a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), State of Florida Driver’s License with a passenger endorsement, which is appropriate for the passenger capacity and gross weight of the vehicle being operated by that driver. Continuous possession of a valid driver’s license for the past seven (7) years. Drivers must pass all applicable medical exams. Entry $15.268/hour. Open until filled.
