F/T PLANNER – Professional and technical work involving current and long range planning, economic development, community redevelopment, grant writing and related grant project administration, recycling, utility and transportation matters, affordable housing assistance, census review, mapping, geographic information systems and floodplain management. Assists in the review and amendment of existing codes and regulations including the City Code of Ordinances, Zoning Code and the Comprehensive Plan. Drafts plans, creates maps, and updates official maps such as future land use plan, zoning and waterfront plan. Utilizes the City’s Geographical Information System to produce data, statistics and mapping. Assists in the preparation of the graphic or written data and/or projects for review before City Council, public interest groups and various boards and committees. Knowledge and principles and practices of public planning and community development. Ability to conduct studies, including research methodology and statistical techniques, and to analyze and formulate recommendations based upon the studies. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, to City officials, public interest groups, general public and other governmental agencies. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a four year degree in planning, public administration, or other related degree and two (2) years of professional experience working for a government agency with related tasks; or, graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree in planning, public administration, or other related degree and approximately one (1) year of professional experience working for a government agency with related work tasks. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $46,063.577. Open until filled. P/T RECREATION LEADER – City of Gulfport. Immediate part-time evening and weekend position available for the Teen Night Program. Education/experience preferred in education, physical education or related field. Knowledge of recreational activities including games, arts & crafts and sports. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and minimum of 18 years of age. Entry $12.332/hr. Level II background check, drug screening and physical will be conducted. Position opens until filled. F/T MAINTENANCE WORKER II (Sanitation) – Semi-skilled work in collection of solid waste and refuse. Performs solid waste collection and disposal activities. Empties the contents of refuse containers into the sanitation collection vehicle; separate all recycled products; loads tired brush bundles. Assures yards are clear of rubbish and debris from containers. Operates vehicle hydraulic packer controls. Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of sanitation equipment. Performs laboring tasks on patch or shoulder crews. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma is preferred. Two (2) years’ experience in semi-skilled maintenance work, grounds keeping, construction and repair. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $13.596 per hour. Open until filled. FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC – City of Gulfport. Must be Florida State certified Firefighter/Paramedic. Must have current Healthcare Provider CPR, PHTLS, ACLS cards and Florida Driver’s License. CPAT or P.A.T certification required. Pinellas County certified paramedic and EVOC training preferred. Background investigation will be conducted including polygraph, psychological & physical examinations w/drug screening. Pay Range $49,348.470 – $79,188.928 annually. P/T EVENT STAFF – Support work for various Casino, Theater, and City-wide Special Event activities, including opening facilities for evening and weekend activities, greeting and providing customer service for patrons, setting up tables and chairs, collecting fees, custodial care, and other tasks as assigned. Strong customer service skills required and prior experience in cashiering, event set-ups, technical sound/lighting, and bartending preferred. Must be available to work flexible hours (weekends, weekdays, & holidays). Requires frequent lifting of 25-30lbs and occasional lifting of 35-40lbs. Florida Driver’s License is required. $12.948/HR. A pre-employment drug screen, criminal history background investigation, physical, and driver’s license verification may be conducted. E.O.E.
P/T MARINA ASSISTANT – Responsible for maintenance and clerical work of the Municipal Marina. Ability to maintain maintenance work orders and clerical records. Ability to perform maintenance duties accurately and safely. Knowledge use of power tools, hand tools and measuring devices. Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing. Knowledge of boating, weather and familiarity with local waterways. Receives checks, stores and sells a variety of merchandise. Assists in maintaining inventory, Operates cash register. Must be able to handle sales through the use of credit cards. The ability to climb on and off vessels, lift 50lbs and walk an average of five (5) miles per day. Able to work in hot weather conditions. Able to work weekends and all holidays. Must be able to work flexible hours which are often dictated by weather. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable diploma. Possession of valid driver license. Entry $12.332 per hour. Open until filled.
