P/T FUEL RAMP ATTENDANT-Responsible for assisting boaters using fuel and sewage pump out equipment. Receives appropriate fees for fuel. Maintains required records for use of sewage pump out equipment for maintenance and clerical work of the Municipal Marina. Ability to maintain maintenance work orders and clerical records. Ability to perform light maintenance and janitorial duties accurately and safely. Knowledge use of power tools, hand tools and measuring devices. Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing. Knowledge of boating, weather and familiarity with local waterways. Receives checks, stores and sells a variety of merchandise. Assists in maintaining inventory, Operates cash register. Must be able to handle sales through the use of credit cards. The ability to climb on and off vessels, lift 50lbs and walk an average of five (5) miles per day. Able to work in hot weather conditions. Able to work weekends and all holidays. Must be able to work flexible hours which are often dictated by weather. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable diploma. Possession of valid driver license. Entry $ 15.777 per hour. Open until filled. F/T CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER II- Responsible code enforcement work in the investigation and enforcement of certain City, County and State codes regarding nuisances, health and sanitation, zoning and building requirements. Patrols the City in a marked vehicle to look for violations of City Ordinances. Makes routine inspections of residential and commercial properties for possible violations of the City, County and State regulations regarding City occupational licenses, nuisances, lot mowing, portable signs, fences, parking, health and sanitation, minimum housing and general littering of the City, including City easements and rights-of-ways. Responds to a variety of non-hazardous and non-criminal calls for service. Receives, records, processes and conducts investigative work regarding complains from citizens. Includes generation of notices of violations, notices of hearing, and other correspondence. Prepares, inputs, and maintains records and files supporting code cases. Coordinated with the Department Director, City Attorney and City Magistrate to attend legal proceedings. Acts in a supervisory role to the Code Enforcement Officer I, and in the general discharge of the Code Enforcement Division. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions. Ability to cope with situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and with respect for the rights of others. Ability to obtain information through interview and observations. Ability to learn department functions, practices, general orders, rules, regulations, City and County ordinances, and State law as applicable to the functions of the job. Knowledge of and ability to utilize social service system and techniques. Ability to use a personal computer and miscellaneous code enforcement related software. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. A minimum of 2 years code enforcement experience is required. An equivalent of law enforcement or related experience may be substituted. Certification by the Florida Association of Code Enforcement is preferable. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. P/T EVENT STAFF – Support work for various Casino, Theater, and City-wide Special Event activities, including opening facilities for evening and weekend activities, greeting and providing customer service for patrons, setting up tables and chairs, collecting fees, custodial care, and other tasks as assigned. Strong customer service skills required and prior experience in cashiering, event set-ups, technical sound/lighting, and bartending preferred. Must be available to work flexible hours (weekends, weekdays, & holidays). Requires frequent lifting of 25-30lbs and occasional lifting of 35-40lbs. Florida Driver’s License is required. $16.566/HR. A pre-employment drug screen, criminal history background investigation, physical, and driver’s license verification may be conducted. E.O.E.

F/T PERMIT TECHNICIAN – Performs technical and clerical duties in receiving, reviewing and processing applications for the issuance of commercial and residential construction permits. Receives, reviews and verifies the content of commercial and residential construction permit applications for completeness, to include reviewing blueprints, site plans and technical drawings, to ensure minimum standards have been met in accordance with established procedures, codes and ordinances. Advises contractors, homeowners and the general public on the construction permit application process. Prepares construction permits and calculates permit fees to ensure the appropriate permits have been issued. Reviews flood elevation certificates for compliance with federal requirements and enters information into a database. Researches files and related databases to extract data needed to resolve problems concerning permit issuance. Complies, prepares and maintains construction permit files and records. Working knowledge of the minimum requirements of federal, state and local building and zoning codes and ordinances. Ability to review blueprints, site plans and technical drawings for minimum standards. Ability to interpret and explain codes, ordinances, statutes and laws governing the permitting process. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Graduation from high school or possession of a GED certificate; and two (2) years of experience involving the receiving, reviewing and processing of applications for the issuance of residential or commercial construction permits; supplemented by three (3) years of general clerical experience. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum, qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License. Entry $21.142/hour. Open until filled. P/T MUSEUM ASSISTANT I – Support all museum operations and activities in order to ensure visitors gain the best possible experience of their visit to the museum. Supporting the care of the collections. Specialized technical and clerical support and public contact work, using personal computers and other technical equipment at times. Provide assistance and information for visitors, conduct guided tours, demonstrate exhibits as directed and assist with the use of equipment such as audio visual. Ensure the highest standards of customer care are in place at all times to provide an excellent experience for all visitors. Take inquiries from visitors and over the telephone, answering these where information is available and taking details/messages to pass on to other colleagues where appropriate. Set up and dismantle stands, equipment and exhibitions; move furniture and exhibits. Clean exhibits and displays. Assists with programs and special projects. Support wider events and programs in appropriate ways, help plan and deliver events and activity sessions; facilitate group and school visits; assist with meetings and functions. Works with museum curator/archivist on archiving projects and/or new museum exhibits. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public. Knowledge of the services and operations of museums, public history, or libraries. Knowledge of standard clerical methods and practices. Must be able to work evenings and Saturdays. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, supplemented by computer keyboarding courses, training or experience. Two (2) years of specific experience working in a museum, library, historical park, or similar setting. P/T SCHOOL CROSSING GUARD – Safety work in the regulation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic in conjunction with the movement of children to and from school. Work is limited to those hours during which school is opening and closing and during lunch hour. Places school sentinel signs in the roadway at designated places near crossing points and removes them when no longer required. Assists children in crossing designated streets. Reports all traffic hazards to the police. Reports flagrant traffic violators and suspicious person loitering in the school area. Contacts school officials concerning children who do not cooperate in the accomplishing safety objectives. Performs related work as assigned. Ability to work regardless of weather conditions. Ability to accept, obey and carry out orders and special instructions. Ability to understand laws, ordinances and regulations pertaining to traffic. Ability to deal courteously and firmly with the public. Possession of a valid Florida’s Driver’s License. F/T BUILDING INSPECTOR – Technical work in both office and field to determine if performance in the field is in compliance with prevailing regulatory codes related to electrical, structural, plumbing, mechanical, and landscape design/installation during all phases of construction or rehabilitation of residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Specific instruction and areas of responsibility are set forth when initial duty assignments are made by the Building Official which requires limited supervision. Work is reviewed through reports, conferences, and obtained results. Responsible for the quality control of construction projects for adherence to approved plans and specifications. Meets with contractors to discuss matters related to the buildings. Informs individuals about specific code requirements and answers code specific questions. Provides information to the public regarding construction projects. Responsible for Florida Building Code violations. Compiles, prepares, and maintains construction permit files and records. Must have thorough knowledge of construction terminology, techniques, and procedures; including the ability to read and understand complex construction documents. Working knowledge of the minimum requirements of federal, state and local building and zoning codes and ordinances. Ability to interpret and explain codes, ordinances, statues and laws governing the permitting process. Ability to use a computer and related software. High School diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) and three (3) years’ experience in the primary building construction trades, construction inspection, architecture inspection, or civil engineering; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Standard Inspector and One- and Two-Family certifications. Must be able to obtain “Provisional” status from the State of Florida within 60 days of hire and “Standard Certification” within 1 year of hire. Entry $26.984/hour. Open until filled. Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma and minimum of 18 years of age. Entry $15.777/hr. F/T BUILDING PLANS EXAMINER – CITY OF GULFPORT. Skilled technical work involving the review of construction plans and documents for compliance with the Florida Building Codes for residential, commercial and industrial properties. Minimum requirements: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Any combination of training, education and experience equivalent to three (3) years’ experience in building construction review and or inspection. Standard Plans Examiner, Commercial and Residential Building certification (additional plans examiner certifications and inspector certifications are a plus and will be given consideration).
