How do I open a new business?
First, you will need to come in to the Community Development department at 5330 23rd Avenue South to fill out and submit the application for a business tax receipt. The application will start a process that includes zoning and fire review.
If you are doing any construction work, other than painting and very minor remodeling, you will also need a building permit.
You may also need to present applicable state and federal licenses and/or approvals depending on your proposed business. For additional information, please contact the Community Development department at (727) 893-1024.
Can I operate my business out of my home?
Gulfport allows home occupational businesses throughout the city depending on where it is located. These uses are restricted and do not allow sales activities or employees other than family members. You can contact the Planning and Development division at (727) 893-1024. for more information.
