The City of Gulfport Public Works Department conducts routine street sweeping operations throughout the City to help maintain clean roadways, improve neighborhood appearance, and support stormwater management efforts. Street sweeping plays an important role in reducing debris entering the City’s stormwater system and nearby surface waters, including Boca Ciega Bay.

By removing leaves, litter, sand, sediment, and other debris from roadways, street sweeping helps:

  • Improve roadway safety and appearance;
  • Reduce pollutants entering storm drains and waterways;
  • Minimize localized flooding caused by clogged drainage systems; and
  • Support environmental protection and water quality initiatives throughout the community.

Street Sweeping Schedule

Street sweeping operations are conducted on a rotating schedule throughout the City and may vary based on weather conditions, seasonal debris accumulation, construction activity, or special events. Additional sweeping may occur before or after major City events, storms, or emergency situations as needed. Please view the map on this page for the most current operating plan and service areas for the City’s street sweeping program.

Please note that temporary roadway closures, parked vehicles, utility work, or weather conditions may impact scheduled sweeping operations.
