Boards and Committees
The Suncoast League of Cities consists of 27 member municipalities in 3 counties spanning from St. Leo in the North to Gulfport in the South. We work closely with and are supported by the Florida League of Cities (FLC) in representing member interests to the Florida Legislature, Governor’s office and state agencies. We also provide a foundation for developing and assisting the FLC on urban policy and administration issues on a statewide basis.

The program highlighted habitat restoration efforts, hurricane resilience, long-term land management, and the importance of protecting this keystone species and the ecosystems that depend on it.

Councilmember Marlene Shaw attended a presentation on the proposed replacement of the historic Egmont Key Pilot Station with a new facility near the Sunshine Skyway. Topics included resilient infrastructure, flood management, workforce development, affordable housing, disaster preparedness, funding opportunities, and regional collaboration to improve long-term resilience throughout the Tampa Bay area.

Councilmember Marlene Shaw attended Sierra’s Environmental Think Tank for Elected Leaders, where representatives from Gulfport, St. Petersburg, and Pinellas County discussed strategies to reduce inflow and infiltration in private sewer laterals through rebate and replacement programs. The meeting highlighted the benefits of proactive outreach, funding opportunities, and inspection requirements to improve wastewater infrastructure, reduce sewer overflows, and protect local waterways.
